Tattoo help?

I've decided I've decided on summat else I'm gonna get done before I'm 30. I'm gonna get myself a tattoo. I've been wanting one on & off for years, but been put off by not knowing what I want, and the fact that everyone I know who has had one tattoo keeps going back for more as though its addictive...

Scary thought, the needle, the pain, the pus, the itching... but I think I really want one now, its in my mind almost as much as getting pregnant, and far more than learning to drive!

Anyway, I'd quite like some help. I want a Scorpion, no more than two inches tall for my right shoulder but I would like a unique design. Now I know there are zillions of different websites but can anyone give me tips on how to personalise tattoos?

Or what to look for at a good tattoo parlour?

sounds exciting.
haven't got a clue about it, but i do have a hand engraving drill, if you want me to have a go?

Sounds good - though I think you should have Iron Maiden's Eddie instead you rock chick you!! Especially in time for the gig in the summer!! )

Ask to see pic's of tat's they have done and have a look around the studio - any DECENT place will help you every step of the way! Don't be afraid to ask any questions - they have heard them all before, you can always walk away and come back when you have made up your mind!

  thank you, that's quite helpful, but i always feel quite intimidated going into the tattoo places. Maybe there'll be a nice one near me.

    Well have fun looking and remember that they are for life ( barring expensive surgery )so take your time and find something you REALLY like!
    In my experience, Ladies first tattoo's are really small ( dolphins etc etc ) once they have that they want more - so be careful

  the first tatt is a lot like the one LaSpice posted (of which I'm not sure), the second one is a bit green and fidly - think i want summat simple as I've got a low (to non-existent) pain threshhold.
  
  And Dolphins round a YinYan symbol? Very pretty but also will date very quick.
  
  But, I do like the rose that comes with the 2nd scorpion, maybe I'll get a flower instead...
  
  Any more scorpion ideas?

I got my first tattoo done for my 40th birthday!
I didn't know what I wanted but knew I wanted it to be a one off so drew it myself. I took it along to the tattoo place, had a seriously great chat with a couple of the people working in there, we fiddled with the drawing, discussed colours and hey presto....done!

Go in and just ask about a getting a tattoo, discuss what you want, they may have some drawings to show you or be willing to draw you some up. Most of all, be sure of what you want and where....you are well and truely stuck with it after it's done!

Can't wait to see what you get done!
