critters in my shed?

I'm just having a shed clean, my original plan was to sand down and re-oil the tables and chairs, but it looks like now the whole shed needs tidying.

I made the mistake of keeping some bird seed in the shed last autumn, until I got a bird table put up, but the bird seed has been torn from the netting, a shelf in the shed is coverted in chewed seed and droppings, and several bits of fabric have been gnawed to pieces.

I terrified some little critter is going to come flying out at me at any second, starved of food and love, but I think it is long gone as I threw the remaining seed out early spring. I just have to tidy up after it now.

Hope the droppings were of the small variety as opposed to rat size...

  don't you have a garden? It's still quite novel owning a shed. It seem very 'grown up' to be clearing out the shed.
  
  Droppings were pretty tiny, maybe a dormouse or summat. From memory to teeny to be normal mouse pellets or rat. I just checked, apparently rat pellets are usually 1-2 centimetres and these were only a few milimetres to half a centimetre tops.
  
  Nothing attacked me, they were long gone!

    A garden, yes, but no shed...
    
    Most likely to have been house mouse or a field mouse I'd have thought... the pellets shrink a fair bit as they dry out so the size sounds about right. Glad to hear they've moved on anyway.

Hehe we keep a bale of hay in the small out building for the Guinea Pigs. This plus the bird seed in the little shed next to it has gained us a visitor... a little field mouse! We only see it once in a while!
